The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department, the Middlesex County Volunteer Fire Department and the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad protect your life,  your health and your property.

Please note: Open burning within the town limits is not permitted unless you have a burning permit.

Hospitals
There are three regional hospitals within 30 minutes of Urbanna, all with 24-hour emergency facilities. All of them provide Nightingale emergency medical helicopter service to major medical centers in Richmond, Norfolk and Newport News.
  • Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock is a 77-bed facility offering  a full range of inpatient/outpatient medical, surgical, and specialty services, 24-hour Emergency Care, and state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services
  • Riverside Tappahannock Hospital is a 100-bed facility that offers nuclear medicine, physical therapy, diagnostic services, respiratory therapy, family medicine, 24-hour emergency care, cardiology and orthopedic surgery
  • Riverside Middle Peninsula Hospital, a 71-bed facility in Gloucester County, provides general medical and surgical care, intensive and cardiac care, physical therapy, various diagnostic services, and 24-hour emergency care
Nursing Homes
Middlesex County has two nursing home facilities. Riverside Convalescent Center in Saluda
accommodates 60 long-term care patients. Mizpah Health Care Center in Locust Hill provides
intermediate care to 64 patients.
Fitness
The Middlesex County Family YMCA in nearby Hartfield has fitness equipment and programs for all ages. The Town occasionally offers classes like yoga and Pilates for a fee. Contact Parks and Recreation for a schedule.
